2017 How to

2017, well here we are. This one is going to be a biggy!


For me this year is all about the ‘ing’. Creating, building, growing, harvesting, making, writing, coaching living, eating, swimming, dancing & loving. More ‘ing’.


So what does that look like. Well, let me tell you about a few fun changes I’m making to this little space of mine this year. You’re going to love it.


I realised the other day that Tom and I choosing to move out of the city and into the hinterland was fucking cool.   Yes we always thought we were cool, and what we were doing was cool, but maybe you might too? Maybe you might like to see just how two city kids (well one, Tom’s from the country, but I like to think of him as a city convert) go from living in inner city Melbourne, to acreage in the rainforest. We’ve gone from having a few square metres in our backyard, to 10 acres of lush greenery, sharing with all kind of treats.


Along with this physical transition, we’ve also decided to eat a primarily plant based diet, we’ve transitioned most of our home to natural products and we’re about to start growing our own food. Being the ragers that we are (ha! You’ll find us in bed by 9pm most nights, no exceptions Saturdays), we’re spending a whole lot of time exploring the Sunshine Coast and all it’s hidden treasures (which I can’t wait to share with you). Think best watering holes, beaches, walking tracks, mountains to climb and my favourite markets and coffee haunts!


I want to share my world with you.


When you’re in the midst of change and growth, you forget what it looks like to look in, so this year I’m going to bring you along with us (Tom’s a little camera shy, but Luna our puppy isn’t), on our journey to sustainable living. Oh and also, I’m a bit of a sustainability nut being an Environmental Scientist and all (did I mention that?).


I also am going to interview some amazing ladies #girlbosses this year that are doing great things, and can teach us all a little more. Ranging from how to grow the most epic veggie garden in your inner city backyard (wait til you see this one, it’s a dream), to how to shop ethically and sustainably and your go-to brands, to how to make your own clothes, to our water situation in Australia (something we all need to know about), to climate change and what we can actually do. We’re going to learn how to shop better, eat better and easy changes to start with. We also have a botanist who will teach us how to grow our own balcony rainforest, a mama-to-be and her real bare all journey through health and pregnancy, and many more makers and shakers. This year is all about women doing incredible things.   I told you it was going to be a big year.


I’ll be sharing recipes as I try them out, from making my own Kombucha, Bone broth and Sauerkraut, and why you need all these good gut health foods (also wait, what is good gut health?). We’ll be learning it all!


For me, 2017 is the year of bettering myself and the world around me. And it’s a huge learning curve. Eating and living holistically and sustainably doesn’t happen overnight, shifting habits takes time, so I’ll be taking you on the journey with me. Learn with me and learn alongside me. I’d love for you to come along for the ride.


There will still be lots of truths, and honest chats about body love, and food and all things health. I want to dive deeper into our womanly cycles, and fitness and standing in front of the mirror and loving our bodies. I’ll be talking about all the things.


So here’s to 2017. The year of the ‘ing’.
